The Step Back – Episode 4 – Transcript

Andrew Wing
Welcome to the fourth edition of a step back podcast. I’m Andrew

Graham Wing
and I’m Graham

Andrew Wing
and we’re just a couple of guys who love basketball. In today’s episode of the podcast we’ll discuss this past week’s games, the upcoming buyout market, attending basketball games and we debut a couple of new segments.

Graham Wing
First off we wanted to let you know that we keep posting new material to the website. So if you visit thestepback.ca you can listen to past episodes and leave comments and you can find links to things that are mentioned in each episode. Ah one correction from last week… we shared an NBC Sports article about how Markelle Fultz was essentially the biggest bust in number one pick history and after a quick glance at the list. I had said that KAT, Karl Anthony towns was the leader, the person who had played the most number of games for the team that drafted them out of players that are still playing for the original team. That’s wrong. As I looked at the list a little more, Anthony Davis, who was drafted in 2012 has played 450 plus games for the Pelicans. I’m assuming that won’t be many more than that. And John Wall is actually number one. He was drafted in 2010 and he was drafted by the Wizards so he’s played more than 570 games with the Washington Wizards the team that drafted him so he’s the current leader, the active leader for number of games played with the team that they’re still currently on that drafted them.

Well, let’s start off by talking about this week’s games. We were still on the all star break for the first half of the week Andrew and the games started back up again on, what was it?

Andrew Wing
Thursday

Graham Wing
Alright so only had a few days of games. Did you catch anything this week or anything you want to talk about?

Andrew Wing
Yeah, I want to talk about the Spurs at Toronto Friday night. It was, it was a good game and it was DeMar’s returned to Toronto and it was really nice. They had made a really nice tribute video. He didn’t get booed which is nice unlike Kawhi got getting booed in San Antonio.

Graham Wing
I mean the difference was Kawhi wanted to leave San Antonio right and DeMar didn’t

Andrew Wing
He didn’t but the fans show him some love It was nice, it was nice to watch

Graham Wing
I thought it was kind of funny that they had a Jakob Poeltl video

Andrew Wing
They did?

Graham Wing
Yes did not see that? Yes they had a

Andrew Wing
I only saw the DeMar video

Graham Wing
They had a Jakob Poeltl video but I guess when the two of them are coming back you can’t really do a video for one and say thanks for your time here and ignore the other guy

Andrew Wing
Yeah

Graham Wing
I mean they could have but so they actually made a short little video for Jakob Poeltl as well which I guess was a nice touch but it was kind of funny.

Andrew Wing
Good for him

Graham Wing
What about any of the other games this week?

Andrew Wing
there was, was it

Graham Wing
I saw some of the Celtics Bucks game that was… Did you see any of it, you saw the end?

Andrew Wing
Yep

Graham Wing
I thought that was exceptional. The Celtics play, they lose to crummy teams like the Celtics, oh not to Celtics, they are the Celtics, I’m sorry they, like the Bulls, the Chicago Bulls which they lost two on Saturday night but then they played the Bucks so well and only lost by one point and probably Kyrie should have been, should have had a file called by the defender on that, on that last play so they could have gone to the free throw line for the win

Andrew Wing
It could have been an easy call any other time in the game

Graham Wing
The Celtics can make you lose your hair if you’re, be, because they’ll play great and then they’ll play terrible. What about Saturday night with the Warriors and the Rockets?

Andrew Wing
That was also really good game as well seeing as the Warriors loss which is always great to see. But when I found out that the Rockets were without Harden for I think it was a knee injury or something, just for that game, I was like oh no like they’re gonna lose. But then I started watching the game, they were winning, they kept the lead Golden State just couldn’t hit any shots and they got the win. Chris Paul played amazing. I mean the whole team played really well. I’ll, I’ll talk about that later.

Graham Wing
Okay

Good. Well it was good to get back to basketball. I joked with some people, some of my friends that during the all star break I got to go to bed on time. And now that basketball is back on I can’t get to bed anytime before 10 or 11 really because there’s games on every night. It’s a good life. Love it!

Andrew Wing
It was good

Graham Wing
All right. Well, one article we wanted to highlight this week before we got into some other discussion was one that ESPN had which was they got together a bunch of their experts and were predicting the NBA superstar moves so they had people predict where Anthony Davis would play next season. Consensus was the Celtics even though he is or isn’t on his the Celtics is are or aren’t on the list of teams that you play for. Where will Kevin Durant play next season? 63% said New York Knicks. And then we got into a couple of East things here, so Andrew shat about Kyrie?

Andrew Wing
So Kyrie, 52% thought go to the Celtics. 30% thought he’d go to the Knicks

Graham Wing
So is that, what do you think?

Andrew Wing
He’ll stay with Boston

Graham Wing
You think he’s staying there?

Andrew Wing
I think he’s staying, I think he’s gonna stay

Graham Wing
Coming in at the beginning of the season he was, you know, I’m a Celtic and then now he’s like, wait till Jan, wait till July 1.

Andrew Wing
Yeah.

Graham Wing
But you think he’s a Celtic.

Andrew Wing
I think he’s a Celtic

Graham Wing
Okay. Do you think the Celtics you keep them?

Andrew Wing
Yes.

Graham Wing
Okay. What else

Andrew Wing
And Kawhi Leonard. They said 66% thought that he would go to the Clippers. Only 25% thought he go to Toronto. I think that should be reversed. Completely wrong.

Graham Wing
I just. I think that this is crazy. I could I could do a whole episode about what do I know, I’m just a guy. But why would anybody go to the Clippers?

Andrew Wing
They traded away their two, and they were really like stars, but their two best players on the team traded away. Like they have no one on the team. Like they’re not anywhere close to where the Raptors or other teams that Kawhi could be going to.

Graham Wing
So it’s not like they have a foundation that they’re bringing in a couple of superstars to put them over the top. They they’re essentially starting from scratch.

Andrew Wing
Yeah.

Graham Wing
So why would one superstar go there knowing that they’re probably still a couple years away. And the chances of them getting two players I think is just essentially zero. I just don’t understand the appeal of the Clippers. I understand the Knicks. They’re terrible, but it’s the Knicks. You’re going to be, you can play in Madison Square Gardens. There’s the prestige of being a Knick, playing where Patrick Ewing and others played before them. So people would might want to go to New York. But why would you want to go to the Clippers?

Andrew Wing
I don’t know.

Graham Wing
So I mean, I maybe Kawhi won’t resign with the Raptors. I don’t know. But I don’t understand what the appeal is of the Clippers. Two thirds of the people say he’s going to the Clippers that just seems crazy to me. Where will Klay Thompson play next year? 91% said the Warriors.

Andrew Wing
He’s not going anywhere else.

Graham Wing
Will DeMarcus, where will DeMarcus Cousins play next year? 33% said the Lakers. I was, 11% said the Warriors. That just seems crazy because he, the Warriors can only give him $6 million next year. He’s going to be worth 20. Does he want to win a championship that badly that he’s going to go back to the Warriors for less than half of what a, basically a third of what he could make otherwise. That just seems crazy, so I’m not, even though these are the experts, I still… Somebody even said that he was going to go to the Atlanta Hawks. So I’m not sure how, I’m not sure how these people are experts. And then another East team. What about the 76ers.

Andrew Wing
So this one was talking about which of their stars they’re going to sign? 63% thought it’d be only Tobias Harris. 22% thought Id’ be Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris. 11% thought it’d be only Jimmy Butler and 3% thought it’d be neither Butler and neither Harris

Graham Wing
So nobody. Now we could probably spend a whole episode on this too. I think Philadelphia has messed up “the process”. I mean, the process is over, right? Simmons and Embiid are playing and Fultz is gone. So the process is done. But they’ve got so much money invested in these players that they can’t resign them all. And if they do, they’re going to be way in the luxury tax. And if they don’t, then they gotta get rid of people. And then they’re just going to be a team like everybody else. So I don’t know. I just think that Philadelphia has gambled a lot for this season. And I don’t think it’s going to get paid, I don’t think it’s gonna pay off for them.

Andrew Wing
No

Graham Wing
No? All right.

Andrew Wing
It’ won’t,

Graham Wing
Who’s the next best free agent Kemba Walker was at 44.4%. Now I’m not sold on him whatsoever. So I think people are crazy on that one. How many max contracts players will the Lakers get? The consensus was just one at 69%.

Andrew Wing
Anthony Davis.

Graham Wing
Well, but you said you said well, we didn’t ask that. Whereas, I guess, that was something we skipped over, where’s Anthony Davis going next year?

Andrew Wing
61% thought the Celtics

Graham Wing
But what do you think,

Andrew Wing
Oh, he’s not going to Celtics.

Graham Wing
So I guess we did mention that stat. But you don’t think he’s going to the Celtics.

Andrew Wing
No, he’s going to Lakers

Graham Wing
Nah, he’s not going the Lakers. Why would anybody want to play with LeBron. There’s another full episode of me ranting about LeBron. How many max contract players will the Knicks add? Two or more was 47.8 or 47.2% and one was 41.7. So it’s kind of split almost in half?

Andrew Wing
People were probably thinking Durant and Kyrie.

Graham Wing
Probably. I would assume. So. How many max contracts will the Clippers get? One was 66.7

Andrew Wing
Kawhi Leonard

Graham Wing
Kawhi Leonard most likely. And what team, this is the one that just drives me crazy. Which team will be the 2019-20 NBA title favorite when the season begins? 75% say the Golden State Warriors.

Andrew Wing
Even with possibility of Durant leaving?

Graham Wing
Yeah

Andrew Wing
They still think? No.

Graham Wing
And then again, these experts, somebody actually said, the Lakers. So they’re going to go from possibly not making the playoffs to being title favorites because they add, if they add Davis, are they now title favorites? I don’t see it. I don’t see it.

Anyways, so trade deadline was February 7, and we’ve talked about that in previous episodes. So the next big date coming up is this Friday, March 1. And this is when the buyouts happen. Teams can waive players, buy out their contracts for whatever is agreed upon, and then they’re free to sign with other players. So Jeremy Lin, you’re you’ve got Lin sanity, or Lynn Lynn, and whatever you’ve got, you’ve kind of when you cut the fever, you’ve you see it. You like, sorry, you like Jeremy Lin?

Andrew Wing
Yes.

Graham Wing
So I don’t even know how to.

Andrew Wing
I don’t know what you’re saying

Graham Wing
I don’t know how to phrase it. You’ve, it’s, there’s Lin-sanity. You like it?

Andrew Wing
Yeah,

Graham Wing
yeah.

Andrew Wing
Love it

Graham Wing
And so.. why?

Andrew Wing
He’s well, he’s just a good player. He is, he’s composed very well, he’s a good scorer, he can make shots off the dribble. Um, he’s a great passer. He’s currently averaging 10.5 points 2.5 rebounds and three and a half assists which aren’t that bad. He’s just playing well and i think he fits into Toronto system pretty nicely

Graham Wing
So why has he played on what, it’s like eight different teams and just a few years?

Andrew Wing
I think it’s mainly been probably because of injuries he’s had for like for the last four years probably after his Lin-sanity

The whole thing with the Knicks

Knicks, he seems like he’s barely played cuz he’s just he’s been out with injuries a lot so I that is probably why because they don’t want to risk anything with them.

Graham Wing
It doesn’t help playing for the Hawks because nobody pays attention to the Hawks. Probably the biggest or best buyout so far this year was Kenneth Faried who was bought out by Brooklyn and then signed with Houston. Boy did Houston ever need him and he is playing a phenomenally. He’s averaging 15 points a game or something like that 10 rebounds or more. He’s playing big minutes Capello’s back now so it’ll be interesting to see how Houston balances the two of them. But Wow, he was a major signing for Houston for sure. Now probably the biggest name out there, not that he’s the best player anymore, But Carmelo is just sitting there doing nothing. So is he going to sign anywhere?

Andrew Wing
Nope. Who cares?

Graham Wing
Obviously not you. I don’t really either. I’ve never been a Carmelo guy but you know so no thoughts on that at all.

Andrew Wing
No

Graham Wing
Yeah, I’m not sure exactly who else is available. I’ve read articles that mentioned different players. But you never know until that actual day happens. So we’ll see what happens this week. If any new know buyouts are done, we’ll talk about it next week in the podcast

So it’s now time to debut a new segment on the podcast called shot clock violation. So this is a segment where we each get 24 seconds to rant about something. You like to rant, Andrew. Something related to basketball, though, so it could be about games we’ve watched, news we read, trends that annoy us or whatever we want. And so I’m gonna, no you start off first. Alright

S this is this is the rant right?

This is the rant, shot clock violation. Ready, set, go.

Andrew Wing
Okay so I do not like the Lakers. They’re young guys, they’re not playing well. Lebron talking about playoff mode. Like Come on, man. You can’t just flip it on and off. Like they’re not playing. Well. They’re like 10th seed. I don’t think they’re gonna make the playoffs and make me so mad. Just watching them. It’s just not good. It’s not a good situation there. No one should go to LA it’s just bad. I don’t like it.

Graham Wing
Well, given that the Lakers are the team of Coby, I’m a little surprised that you don’t like the Lakers.

Andrew Wing
Just not good now. They were good

Graham Wing
Okay, well

Andrew Wing
I don’t like Lebron, so I can’t. I’m

Graham Wing
LeBrons one of those guys you love to hate. But speaking of loving to hate. Now, it’s my turn.

All right. Ready?

So I can’t stand Kevin Durant. He is so good. But is so annoying. He never looks like he’s happy. I love basketball because it’s a fun game to watch. And it’s a fun game to play. And he looks miserable all the time. He’s flailing his arms, yelling at the refs. He’s upset with his teammates. Nothing’s ever good enough for him. I can’t stand him. I wish that he would just stop and then we wouldn’t have to deal with him. And

Andrew Wing
Wow

Graham Wing
I can’t stand him. You like him?

Andrew Wing
He’s good.

Graham Wing
He’s very good. But does

Andrew Wing
I love watching him play

Graham Wing
But that’s like LeBron. He’s good.

I know. That was my shot clock violation. You had yours.

Andrew Wing
Okay.

Graham Wing
That’s I just can’t stand Durant. Anyways. All right. We wanted to spend a few minutes talking about some games that we’ve been to, or just our kind of our history of attending games. So why don’t you start Andrew, why don’t you tell us a little bit about what you’ve attended.

Andrew Wing
So obviously, being close to Toronto, I’ve been to a few Raptors games. Probably about like four or five.

Graham Wing
Where have you had a seat?

Andrew Wing
I don’t know

Graham Wing
Well, I mean, up high down low, like where have you been?

Andrew Wing
Probably up high.

Graham Wing
You have such a great memory. We’ve sat down low in the lower bowl, had fantastic seats, and then we’ve also sat up top in the nosebleeds almost way up at the very top.

Andrew Wing
Yeah

Graham Wing
Yeah. So what do you prefer?

Andrew Wing
Oh, definitely down low. Who wouldn’t prefer down low

Graham Wing
But is it still, is it still worth it to go to a game if you’re up top?

Andrew Wing
Oh, yeah, yeah, it’s the environment there.

Graham Wing
All right.

Andrew Wing
I’m also attended a bunch of the NBLC games, the National Basketball League of Canada. It’s kind of a small league, but it’s just it’s more local. Niagara River Lions are the local team. And I also have had the opportunity to volunteer at some of their games so it’s, that was a good experience. And then I’ve been to a couple Orlando Magic games as well. Just being down in Florida, I guess on vacation. We’ve been to some Magic games, not against great teams, because it’s just the timing we’re the’re, they’re not playing anyone good. But it’s still good to go see another arena and just be with other kinds of fans than just Raptors fan.

Graham Wing
So you’ve been to two arenas for NBA games.

Andrew Wing
Yeah

Graham Wing
So do, which one did you prefer? At the time it was the Air Canada Centre and the Amway center? I guess it is which one do you have a preference?

Andrew Wing
Oh, Amway center

Graham Wing
Why

Andrew Wing
It looks so nice. I just I guess just because where it is like, you can have natural lighting, it just looks it looks beautiful.

Graham Wing
Yeah, I agree. The one end of the arena has essentially giant windows that shine in onto the concourse but then there’s this gap in the seating at the one and that lets the light into the arena. Now it doesn’t light the whole arena, but it’s just beautiful. So you go see a game and it’s seven o’clock at night. And there’s still sunlight coming in. Oh, it’s that. it’s, iit is beautiful. Absolutely.

So obviously, I’ve been to most of the same games that you’ve been to. Probably the first, if I can call it a professional game I ever went to was that I went with my wife, Lisa, your mother, to go see the Harlem Globetrotters at the SkyDome before the Air Canada Centre even existed. So that was kind of weird seeing a basketball game in an, in a stadium. You know, seats, 50,000 people and they had it set up so that there were people sitting on one side in the stadium seating and then they had bleachers setup on the other side. It was kind of a weird setup. But that was fun. Just watching the Globetrotters. Yes, I’ve probably been I think we’ve been to at least three, if not four Raptors games, which I know isn’t a lot, but they’ve been fun. Lots of River Lions games. They’ve dropped out of the NBLC, the National Basketball League of Canada.

Andrew Wing
They have?

Graham Wing
Yeah, there’s a new league starting up that will be this summer called the Canadian elite Basketball League.

Andrew Wing
So the NBLC doesn’t exist anymore?

Graham Wing
No, it exists. It just doesn’t have the River Lions.

Andrew Wing
Oh,

Graham Wing
And then also, I guess it was this past last year, the city of St. Catharines had the FIBA under 17 tournament or the North America under 17 tournament and or the American, no, the FIBA of the Americas. So it was North and South America. And we had some tickets to go see games there. And that was fantastic basketball. It is abs, it was stunning to see these 16 and 17 year old boys, so guys that are barely older than you playing like professionals, you really get a perspective of

Andrew Wing
I play like a professional

Graham Wing
You really get a perspective of what it takes to be a basketball player, because I’ve seen you and your friends play and your teams play. And it’s like, well, that’s good basket. What’s exciting, and then you see these guys play. Wow. And they’re not even in college yet. So then, you know, it’s, it’s these elite High School players then go to the NCAA Division One teams, and then those are amazing. And then just to get up to the NBA is it’s the skill level is absolutely amazing.

The one thing that really gets me is how much Toronto Raptors games cost.

Andrew Wing
I hate it

Graham Wing
Share more.

Andrew Wing
They’re so expensive, like, I guess because they’re a premium team. And also the only NBA team in Canada, they’re just take it even like nosebleeds. They’re like 60 bucks for the cheapest ticket.

Graham Wing
Yeah. And then as soon as you get a good team that comes into town, they’re 90 or $100. So you’re sitting way up top with a terrible view of the floor. But you want to be there. So you pay 100 bucks for a ticket.

Andrew Wing
Yeah,

Graham Wing
that’s it’s, it’s they’ve priced themselves out of the market to a degree, but supply and demand, they can charge

Andrew Wing
They sold out every game.

Graham Wing
Exactly. It’s been five years now or something like that. I remember, well, maybe it was six years ago, Pizza Pizza was a major sponsor. And they had promotions where if you bought a large pizza on such and such a day, you got two tickets to the Raptors games.

Andrew Wing
What?

Graham Wing
Yeah, so you spend 20 bucks on pizza and got two tickets to a game. Now, obviously, they were filling up a lot of the tickets or the seats up top. But that’s still amazing.

Andrew Wing
Yeah,

Graham Wing
For free ticket versus $100 for the ticket. Now, we’ve certainly seen ads and games this season, even even Houston, right, with probably the greatest scorer of our generation right now in James Harden, they had a promotion on where for 20 bucks, you got a ticket, a hot dog, a beer, and a T shirt or something like that for $20. Now, US$ so, it’s still under $30 Canadian for all of that. And then I think it was the Bucks a few years ago. And they certainly wouldn’t do it nowadays. But when they weren’t winning, they had a a win a 10 wins super pass or something like that, where they guaranteed that for, if you bought this package, you would get 10 wins. So it was $149. So the worst case scenario as if they won 10 games in a row at home, you paid $15 a game. But if you went to a game and lost, you got to go to another one. And you got to keep going to games until they won 10 games. So if they won 50% of their games, that would mean that you could go to 20 games for $149.

Andrew Wing
That’s pretty good.

Graham Wing
It’s just I’m jealous. You know, I’m on the one hand, I’m happy that the Raptors are winning. It’s exciting to be around and that’s your hometown team. Even though we’re not in Toronto. It’s still the hometown team. And they’re playing well. But then it just, ultimately the tickets are too expensive. LeBron’s gone, and who were the, the Cavs were playing somebody the other day and tickets were $5 or something like that

Andrew Wing
It was like the net or

Graham Wing
I can’t remember what it was.

Andrew Wing
But it wasn’t. It wasn’t. I mean, the Nets aren’t bad, but it wasn’t a good they weren’t a good team.

Graham Wing
We talked about going to see games elsewhere. But that’s going to be you know, it’s a four hour drive to Cleveland. It’s a probably two to three hour drive to Detroit. So they’re not too far. But we just haven’t had anything work out for us yet. But maybe someday we’ll go.

Graham Wing
So it’s now time to debut our other new segment on the podcast called “Buzzer Beater”. Now shot clock violation is a segment where we rant about something and you know the sound at the end is the buzzer and the boos. But “Buzzer Beater” is a segment where we praise or gloat or get hyped about something because it’s for the win. Something could be about an exciting play, how a game ended, our teams on a winning streak or anything else that makes us happy to be a basketball fan. So just like I mentioned about the, how exciting some of the games were that we watched this past week and going to games in person, just anything that you see that makes you happy So I’ll start off with this one

I love close basketball games you hear people complain about how five, they only care about the last five minutes but they’re awesome games,. Football, hockey none of them do it. But the Raptors won by just a couple of points. The Celtics only lost by one point. The Warriors and the Rockets were close until the very end of the game. It was awesome basketball. It’s exciting. I want to see every game and I have to stay up and watch it. I can’t go to bed. It’s just amazing. And I just I love it. I love it so much

You like that? Double bang.

Andrew Wing
I love it.

Graham Wing
All right, your turn. Ready

Andrew Wing
Yeah.

Go.

Okay, so after watching the game last night the Rockets and Warriors game I loved how they played. Even though they were missing like the best player of this, this season probably they played so well. There ball movement was amazing everyone the team seemed like they could score. Chris Paul had another great night of assists. It was just, it was fun to watch the Rockets for the first time in a while and I really really enjoy

Graham Wing
Bang! It was a good game. I really really enjoyed it.

All right the last thing we want to talk about this week is just, let’s just talk, we we talked a couple episodes ago about the GOAT, who our greatest, who we thought the greatest player of all time was but in and I mentioned about growing up I loved David Robinson even though he wasn’t the GOAT so today in today’s game, who is your favorite player?

Andrew Wing
Kawhi Leonard.

Graham Wing
Why?

Andrew Wing
He can do everything

Graham Wing
He’s not very exciting though

Andrew Wing
Who cares? We win basketball games, that’s all that matters

Graham Wing
All right anybody else?

Andrew Wing
Probably has to be James Harden no bandwagon just he’s great he’s he’s he’s he’s okay to watch

Graham Wing
I like Kawhi for sure. I’m disappointed he’s not on the Spurs. I wish he was still on the Spurs, because then the Spurs would be better.

Andrew Wing
He’s better on the Raptors

Graham Wing
I was, I always appreciate it Harden’s skills, but I wasn’t a huge fan of him. But just the scoring that he’s doing now is unbelievable. I just, you got to appreciate it. I absolutely love it.

Andrew Wing
He’s a hack

Graham Wing
Probably if I’d say probably this year Harden’s my favorite player. When he’s shooting well and I totally acknowledge that he’s not playing well right now. But when he’s shooting well the three is just beautiful. The drive past the the defender for the dunk is amazing. Even his defense is good. He is he is playing exceptionally well this year so from probably right now it would be Harden and I think he’s amazing.

What about people who aren’t superstars but just other players in the league that you like,

Andrew Wing
Mine would have to be Devin Booker.

Graham Wing
Why?

Andrew Wing
Cuz he’s, he’s like Kobe, trained by Kobe did some training with him. He plays like him. And he’s actually I think he’s very good. And he will be, he will be a many time all star in the next couple years.

Graham Wing
But Jason Tatum has been trained. See if he’s been trained by Kobe, why don’t you like Jason Tatum?

Andrew Wing
Because he doesn’t play the same way. He doesn’t have that mentality that obviously Booker he knows what’s going on.

Graham Wing
Oh, the the Mamba Mentality

Andrew Wing
The Mamba Mentatlity. Tatum doesn’t have it.

Graham Wing
All right. I don’t know if there is a single player like you have with Booker. I think that’s great. I do like Jason Tatum. I think he’s an exceptional talent as a young guy. Aaron Gordon. Ever since that performance of the dunk competition, he’s just, he’s, he seems to love playing the game. I ranted about Durant and he just looks miserable all the time. Aaron Gordon looks happy all the time. So I like that. There’s something about Kelly Oubre that, he’s, he’s not a star. And he’s not even it, probably not as good as Booker or any of these other people. But he just plays and he’ll kind of ignite and it’s like, Wow, look at him go. He’s super fast. does some good dunks. I like him. And I’ve always liked Danny Green when he was on the Spurs I used to tell people that everybody needs a Danny Green and now that he’s on the Raptors and they got themselves a Danny Green I think everybody all the Raptors fans are happy they got themselves a Danny Green. He’s a good defender. Good three point shooter. He’s just one of those good all around players to have on your team.

So then the last thing would be what about the player that you love to hate? Or that you just hate.. you don’t love them whatsoever?

Andrew Wing
Mine is love to hate. And it would be Kevin Durant. You said you hate him. Me and Durant we have we got a love hate relationship.

Graham Wing
Does he love you or hate to.

Andrew Wing
Both

Graham Wing
It’s it’s a one way relationship

Andrew Wing
It’s just a one way relationship. I love watching him play. He’s He’s so talented. So skilled. Just it’s just incredible to watch him. But I hate him because he’s a snake. I don’t know if you any of you have seen the memes about him. But he’s just he’s a snake he left OKC and he plays for arguably the best, greatest basketball team of all time. And no respect for him but he’s a good player. Good friend.

Graham Wing
Oh man. He scored 50 or almost 50 when he played the Raptors.

Andrew Wing
Yeah.

Graham Wing
And just the Raptors,

Andrew Wing
Still lost

they were it was. Yeah, it was. It was close though. Now obviously already ranted about Durant so I don’t want to mention him again. But probably the one that I would say I love to hate is Embiid. Oh man. I can’t stand him. But boy is he ever good. He’s just this force in the middle where if he gets down low it’s pretty hard to stop them. You can go out and shoot but same thing he just he’s whining all the time. Plus he seems to be injury prone. And then I just I don’t know there’s He’s amazing. But then I just can’t stand him. And of course he’s in the east and i’m not i would prefer the Raptors to win and I’m not was never a fan of the process. So the whole thing just gets to me. But Durant and Embiid and then you mentioned LeBron earlier. I’m not a fan of him either. I certainly recognize what he’s been able to do that that fading to the baseline bank shot that he scored against the Raptors to game winner like, Oh, we just He’s amazing. But you hate him. hate him. hate him. hate him. And really if we want to talk about LeBrown, he’s the reason why DeRosen isn’t isn’t a raptor anymore, whatever. Whether

it just, it just didn’t happen. The DeMar led Raptors just couldn’t beat LeBron, whatever it was.
